Umbrella Cockatoo

The Umbrella Cockatoo is named for its large, fan-shaped crest that opens like an umbrella when the bird is excited or alarmed. Covered in pure white plumage with pale yellow undertones visible on the underside of their wings and tail, they are strikingly beautiful. Umbrella Cockatoos are one of the most affectionate and cuddly parrot species — they absolutely love physical contact, head scratches, and being held. They bond extremely deeply with their owners and crave constant companionship. This intense bonding nature means they require an owner who can dedicate significant time to interaction. They are intelligent, can learn to talk and perform tricks, and have a playful, sometimes goofy personality. They can be vocal, especially when seeking attention. Lifespan is 40–60 years.
