The Moluccan Cockatoo is one of the largest cockatoo species, known for their beautiful salmon-pink plumage and large, colorful crest. They are often considered the most emotionally complex of all parrots — they form incredibly deep bonds with their owners and can be remarkably intuitive about human emotions. Their affection is unmatched; they crave physical contact and will happily spend hours cuddling with their favorite person. However, this intense bonding means they require significant daily attention and can develop behavioral issues if neglected. Moluccan Cockatoos can be excellent talkers and are highly intelligent. They need an experienced, dedicated owner who can commit to their emotional and social needs for their entire lifespan of 40–65 years.
Diet
High-quality cockatoo pellets (70%), fresh vegetables (leafy greens, sweet potato, squash), fruits in moderation, and very limited nuts and seeds. Monitor weight carefully.
