The Triton Cockatoo is a subspecies of the Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo, slightly larger with a broader, more dramatic crest and a wider, more robust build. They are rarer in captivity than the standard Sulphur-Crested, making them highly sought after. Triton Cockatoos share many personality traits with their Sulphur-Crested cousins — they are intelligent, playful, and incredibly charismatic. They can be excellent talkers and dancers, and they love to show off. Their larger size gives them an even more commanding presence. They form strong bonds and require significant daily interaction and mental stimulation. Triton Cockatoos need an experienced owner who can handle their energy, volume, and emotional needs. With proper care, they can live 50–70 years.
Diet
Cockatoo pellets, a wide variety of fresh vegetables (especially green vegetables and root vegetables), fruits in moderation, and limited nuts for enrichment.
